If you forget how to divide fractions, copy down or refer to the diagram above. Do it a couple of times until you get to the point you no longer have to refer to it. Dividing fractions is like anything else you will do, in order to get better, you must practice, over and over again. Don't give up. If you give up, you will never get it and grade nine will be very difficult. Hang in there, trust me, if you don't give up, you will get it and you will feel so much better, about yourself and math.
Tomorrow is the Lip Sync and Air Band Show, so make sure your work is complete. If you have not finished everything, you will be in a work room until you are finished everything. You don't want that, so, as Levi would say, "Git 'er done".
- dividing fractions--sheet 190-91
- spelling definitions
- K2 visualization assignment
See you all tomorrow.

This is the way most of the class felt today. There was some frustration at multiplying fractions and even more frustration when they had to take those fractions to simplest form. So, it is with regret that I will remind you that you must always reduce your fractions to simplest form:)
There was a Social this afternoon and in order for everyone to attend, they must have completed all their work, and they did. Good job everyone!

Our class schedule has changed. The school has implemented 'common teaching times'. All the grade eights are taught math and literacy at the same time of day. This morning was quite chaotic for 8-1. We had a hard time adjusting to math @ 8:40, we usually would do it @ 11:20. However, with some tinkering, we will work out the kinks and try to find what works for us.
We put up our Christmas tree today, thank you to Kymberly, Mya, Amber, Shelby, Timarah and Jesse for decorating it. It looks fantabulous, not a word, I know, but I like it.
There was a lot of math today and if you have not completed it, consider it homework. We are moving on to multiplication and division of fractions and you do not want to get behind. Remember, there is homework support available.
- Math Makes Sense Text--page 147
- Math Makes Sense Booklet--4.3
Go to bed early and get a good sleep because we will have math first thing in the morning :)
Make good choices.

The busses will be leaving tomorrow @10:30 for the movie in Brantford. We should be back @ the school by 2:30. I know everyone will be on their best behavior as they will be representing J. C. Hill and we all know that we have a great bunch of students this year. Keep us proud.
If you are not going to the movie, you will be provided a work package and will be in a work room with a teacher.
- Math booklet--up to 4.3
- Daydreamer reading
- Spelling definitions
Some students still have a math worksheet from last week that they have not completed. 4.2 R, adding whole numbers and fractions.
Cya all tomorrow.
